WRC is proud to announce its Highland Oaks at Water Run community has been named 2018 Business Education Partner of the Year by the Clarion County Chamber of Commerce.
Presented March 9 at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner, Highland Oaks earned the award for its emerging internship program with Clarion University. The program, established in January 2018, provides opportunities for interns and co-op students to gain first-hand experience in their prospective fields.
Five interns and four co-op students participated in the program during its first year. Highland Oaks also partnered with Clarion’s College of Health and Human Services to offer additional learning opportunities. The community home provided 14 first and second-year students in the Rehabilitative Sciences Program with 12 service-learning hours each during the fall semester.
The program has continued to grow 14 months after its establishment. Highland Oaks now employs 24 students, 15 of which study Nursing and/or Rehabilitative Sciences at Clarion University.
